What’s an IAIABC companion record?

Release 3 is defined as the business requirements and data elements that include Release 1 and Release 2, as well as any newly defined requirements. To develop a backward-compatible product, the IAIABC modified the original Release 1 148 (FROI) and A49 (SROI) records and created new companion records. The companion records are denoted as R21 (FROI enhancement) and R22 (SROI enhancement) and will accompany the 148 and A49, respectively.

R21- DN0001 Transaction Set ID (FROI Companion Record): The Release 3 R21 record contains Release 2 and new Release 3 elements (not included in Release 1) related to the 148 (FROI) record. Also included are the Release 1 data elements from the original 148 Release 1 data structure that do not have the same data element number, functionality, definition, and format (regardless of length differences) as defined in Release 1. This record will accompany the 148 record to form a FROI transaction.

R22- DN0001 Transaction Set ID (SROI Companion Record): The Release 3 R22 record contains Release 2 and new Release 3 elements (not included in Release 1) related to the A49 (SROI). Also included are the Release 1 data elements from the original A49 Release 1 data structure that do not have the same data element number, functionality, definition, and format as defined in Release 1. This record will accompany the A49 Record to form a SROI transaction.
