Municipal Corporations ServiceOhio insurance law prohibits insurers from charging a different automobile insurance premium rate to people residing within the limits of any municipal corporation based on the location of the insured’s residence within those limits. A municipal corporation is a city with a population greater than 5,000 or a village with a population less than 5,000. LOCATION® Municipal Corporations Service identifies all Ohio addresses located within the boundaries of municipal corporations and provides the appropriate municipal corporation names. The underlying data comes from multiple sources, including data from the Ohio Department of Insurance as well as boundary information collected by ISO field staff. The service will assist insurers in charging the same base rates for risks located within the same municipal corporation and ensure compliance with the laws of the state of Ohio. LOCATION Municipal Corporations Service comes to you as a flat-file database for you to host. ISO updates the service quarterly. Want to know more?
