ISO ClaimSearch - improve claims processing and prevent fraud

Accessing the ISO ClaimSearch® System

You can access the ISO ClaimSearch® system through two convenient channels:

Internet access through ISOnetSM

All ISO ClaimSearch functions are available through ISOnetSM — the Internet information service for insurance professionals. The available functions include:

  • claims reporting
  • claims inquiry (investigations query)
  • VIN decoding with NICB VINassist®
  • NICB submission (referring questionable claims)
  • public-records searches
  • medical-records orders
  • motor vehicle report (MVR) orders
  • police, fire, and coroner report orders

Access is available only to authorized users, ensuring privacy and protection to all ISO ClaimSearch data. For more on protection of the database, see the ISO ClaimSearch Privacy and Security Policy.

ISOnet provides quick and easy access to the ISO ClaimSearch database through a user-friendly web interface.

Communicating through central claims systems
The most effective and cost-efficient way to access the ISO ClaimSearch database for claims reporting and searching is through a direct host-to-host connection. ISO ClaimSearch can accept a data stream from your central claims system and will return match reports automatically.

The system can receive claims and return reports through secure FTP or IBM's WebSphereMQ (formerly MQ Series). If you wish to report through a central system, ISO will supply complete reporting specifications.

To submit first and subsequent notice-of-loss information to ISO ClaimSearch through a host-to-host connection, you can use the ACORD XML standard for claims-investigation messages.

Universal Format
Whether you access ISO ClaimSearch through ISOnet or through a central system, you have a choice of formats for your claim reports and search results:

  • You may continue to use the legacy monoline formats for casualty, property, and auto and receive results in those formats.
  • You may adopt the new Universal Format for claim reporting and system output

With the Universal Format you get more data fields — for more lines of insurance — than previous methods of reporting. And the Universal Format gives you a single data-entry point for multiline claims. It is also the delivery mechanism for new services, such as claims scores.

The Universal Format makes all the benefits of ISO ClaimSearch available to all your claims professionals.
