CARFAX® vehicle history reports
Now you have instant access to reports from the CARFAX database of more than 7 billion records. You can order CARFAX vehicle history reports for all cars and light trucks from model year 1981 to the present.
The reports provide valuable insights into SIU investigations, including:

• odometer readings and mileage information to help detect fraud
• prior accidents that may have a bearing on a claim
• prior vehicle damage (e.g., flood damage) that may have contributed to an accident
• registration history to see if a personal vehicle was registered as commercial
• recorded activity after a vehicle was stolen, including police records, vehicle service and repair records, and recovery notices from state DMVs

Information in the reports can also help total-loss adjusters achieve significant cost savings in their caseload of appraisals. Examples of such information include:

• preexisting title brands or total-loss events that lower a vehicle’s value
• odometer readings that point to high-mileage vehicles
• previous vehicle damage that may not have been repaired

New mapping features
Decision Net now offers the option to visualize addresses of Match List subjects on a map. You can select this feature when completing a Basic Search or Basic Search Plus on Decision Net. Two levels of detail are available:

Map It
When you click on the icon next to an address in your Match List, a street map will appear featuring an illustration of roads, highways, and surrounding points of interest, including bodies of water, parks, railroads, and prominent landmarks. A pushpin icon will show the location of the subject on the map. The subject’s street address will also appear above the marker for easy reference.

Map-verified addresses
If the system returns multiple matches in your Match List, a button on the page will let you plot and view the verified addresses of each subject in your list. A verified address is a subject’s probable place of residence based on findings from multiple public-records sources.

Both mapping features include navigational functionality that lets you survey roadways north, south, east, or west of a subject’s location. A zoom slider also accommodates wide-view panning and close-ups of select areas.

EDR Lookup
Now you can check a VIN instantly online to determine if a vehicle is equipped with a readable event data recorder (EDR). Those devices continuously monitor and record critical driving factors such as speed, braking, engine rpm, safety belt usage, and air bag deployment. Retrieval and analysis of that data from a vehicle involved in a collision can be vital to the recon­struction of an accident or “near miss” incident. You can submit EDR data-harvest requests by signing up for the service on ISO ClaimSearch. Or if you’re a registered Decision Net user, you can submit a data-harvest request through EDR Investigate®.

Product recall notices
ISO ClaimSearch users can link to and review product recall bulletins, consumer safety warnings, and public notices issued by federal regulatory agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

New resources section and reference tools
The Decision Net home page now features a new resources section offering free reference information to support your investigative efforts.
